Ready for some sunshine!

WOW I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks! Lots of catching up and staying ahead with school work while trying to throw some fun into the mix—necessary for any college student’s sanity : )

I’ve never really “celebrated” St. Patrick’s Day, but last year and this year I have spent it with Cody’s sister Keana and their mom—Keana makes delicious corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage and we eat every bit of it : )  This year their cousins Dave and Laura were coming up here for a family event in Seattle so they came over to Keana’s house to share in what is becoming the traditional Irish-flare dinner. I had only met them once before when Cody and I were in California last summer, but they are the kind of people to make you feel welcome even if they just met you 5 minutes ago! My friend Brent joined the family as well, and Cody and Keana's youngest sister Holly came over too. Lots of good food and laughter, can’t ever go wrong with that combination! Joey instantly attached himself to Brent and was glad to have someone he could sucker into “climbing the mountain” in the back yard with him : )  I, of course, had my camera with me to capture some of the silliness of the evening..

"Hey Ashers, let's go climb the mountain up to the fence and take pictures!" : )

 Joey's "booty dance"....love this kid!

Joey and his new best friend, Brent : P

Gathered around finger foods and wine!

Over the last couple of weeks I started training with Melanie for the 5k we signed up for in May…just under 7 weeks to go and I feel like I’ve got a LONG way to go still! I’ve decided that instead of my goal being to run the whole 3.something miles, I want to run at least a mile of it. It may seem as if I might be undercutting the point of running a 5k (it is technically a run/walk), but for a girl that one, doesn’t think of running as something “fun” and two, has NEVER been able to run a full mile without stopping, I think it’s a perfectly acceptable goal!! *lol* I’m up to 3 minutes of running without having to stop, but at a very slow pace. I do better on the treadmill than I do outside, but the treadmill does a better job of making me keep on going than I do : )  Think I’m gonna have to up the number of days I run in a week, we’ll see how that goes.

I am beyond ready for some sun!!! This rain is just not doing it for me lately…BUT, it did make for some super cute engagement pictures this past weekend! I work with Ferowsi, and she recently asked me to shoot their wedding in May in Key West. I was really nervous about doing their pictures (and excited at the same time), but after working with them for their engagement photos I really can’t wait to do it again in May! Despite the rain, I had so much fun roaming around downtown Tacoma with them and capturing both their fun and loving sides. I am beyond grateful to them for the opportunity to get a wedding shoot under my belt, and who could ask for a better setting than paradise?! : )  Here are a few of my favorites from the other day..

My spring break is coming up next week, and with it comes catching up on my scrapbook stuff, donating blood, a couple of work days, along with another engagement session for a classmate of mine and a family portrait for my good friends Chris and Courtnie with their newest little addition to the family, Caylee. Very much looking forward to both sessions!

Hope everyone has a great week!

It's been a long one!

This weekend has been a much needed relaxing time...and Saturday isn't even over yet! The week was packed for me--genetics test on Monday, studied for an organic chemistry test all day Tuesday and on Wednesday had the test kick my butt (as well as the rest of the class). Thursday was a very long day--went to work at 5 and when I went to leave for golf class at 1:30 I discovered my car wouldn't start, fantastic!! Thankfully Cody works at the same hospital, so he let me take his truck to golf and got security to jump my car and took it straight to get a battery replacement. Right after that we both went to the Neighborhood Clinic to volunteer and didn't get back till almost 11 after going out to eat....needless to say I did NOT want to get up the next day! Friday's I've been staying at school till at least 4 working on the chem lab for the week, and I was one happy camper when I finally finished it around 5--hheeellooooo weekend! : D

The week also brought some exciting news, I was asked to do a shoot for a coworker's wedding......in Key West!! I was already set to do their engagement session and the reception, but I am super excited to now be capturing their wedding as well! ....and not just because it's in a tropical destination ; )

The engagement session is in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed for decent weather!) so I, along with Cody, his mom, and my good friend, Brent, went roaming around Pt. Defiance, Ruston, and downtown Tacoma looking for some good/unique spots to take pictures and I think I've got some good ideas up my sleeve : )  While we were out, I decided to go for take 2 on my "assignment" from my mentor, and I feel like I was a little more successful this time.....and also feel like a creeper for the pictures of the super cute kids I captured *lol*

Yesterday evening I found out about a 5k/10k Walk & Run being held at Chamber's Bay in May and decided I needed to do it...and my best friends are doing it with me! Melanie and Brent will be fun running partners. I've been doing the Couch to 5k program on my iPhone (with the exception of this week, just too crazy...) so I'm hoping that I will be able to run at least half of it! But now I'll have other people to motivate me--even if I can't finish it running I think it will be a good time.

Here are my favorites from the day : )

Leave a comment and let me know which one is your favorite!

Hope everyone has a great week! : )
